Raining Cats & Dogs Horlicks; A Cat Layout

Tomorrow is National Scrapbook Day... When I ran out of ideas, sometimes it's good to go back to the basics and do something traditional... Here on today's Graphic 45 blog post, I'm sharing this Horlicks layout using Raining Cats and Dogs paper collection...

Featuring my friend's cat, he was named after a malted drink Horlicks... It may sounded familiar to some of you perhaps... It's definitely one of my favourite drink after Milo... So I am presenting this one cool cat on this layout and this will be gift for my friend...

A Flourish Layout...

I had this very beautiful Phalaenopsis orchid which I bought her back about 2 years back, and I had watched her bloomed beautifully during spring... As it was my very first orchid, I decided to capture the blooming process...

For today Graphic 45 blog post, I'm sharing this Flourish layout using Time to Flourish paper collection using one of the pictures I had taken... Used the shabby chic drawer pull here as the pot for my orchid, as if I'm still growing her...

An Adore Fashion Adventure Mother Goose Layout

On today's Graphic 45 Blog Post, I'm sharing this cute little layout I've done using the Mother Goose collection...

Featuring my niece in her wild personality, she's simply a rockstar venturing into fashion... LOL! We were shopping one afternoon for her clothes, and before we could catch her, she was taking some accessories off the shelves to match her outfit... That's too adorable of her that we had to take a picture of her... And here she is, showing us this "Rocker" look... Fret not, she wasn't showing us the finger, she was just piping up 2 of her fingers trying to be a rockstar...

Just love her deep deep... Too cute...

A Prima Epiphany Mixed Media Layout

Alright scrapping peeps, I know some of you've been waiting for this and it's my pleasure to present my first ever start-to-finish mixed media video. Now screening on my YouTube channel. Yeah!!!

In this pilot video, I'm sharing a time-lapsed progress in how I created this pearlescent Epiphany mixed media layout using Prima's Epiphany paper collection, Ingvild Bolme's Shabby Chic Treasures, Prima flowers, Colour Bloom Sprays and Finabair's ArtBasics, ArtExtravagance and ArtIngredients. Yes it's a layout that I used almost 90% of Prima goodies!!! Though the general look of this layout look simple, but the work behind is not what you think it is as you will get to see in my video. The Epiphany collection contains a good blend of pastel blue, pink and gray which will be the colour palette I worked towards in building this layout. Filming is not really easy for start-to-finish mixed media videos as I'll have to plan properly to ensure the flow is smooth. Certain tasks such as fussy cutting, planning and positioning of embellishments to waiting for medium to dry are not shown in order to make the video within 30 minutes for maximum pleasure and view ability. I was quite excited yet nervous for this as I was pretty concern that it may not turn out that well. Finally I survived!!!

I had developed this photo of mine and had kept it for quite a long time till I decided to create a layout using Prima's Epiphany collection. The white pureness with a touch of soft pastels of this collection just make my heart flutter. I really love this collection. Moreover I'm a Christian and Epiphany has a biblical meaning to it. Epiphany itself is a traditionally observed church festival held on 6th January to celebrate the manifestation of the divine nature of Christ as represented by Magi (Matthew 2:1-12). Hence, I decided to create a layout to kick start this holiday season (though it's not 6th January yet), to commemorate my status as a child of God and the essence of the Gospel and Christ. Also, as a form of remembrance and realisations I've gotten from God.

Alright, before I bored you guys any further, here I'm presenting this for your crafting inspirations. Feel free to let me know what you think and remember to comment and subscribe to my channel. More photos below and a list of supplies as follows.

Happy crafting!!! Cheers!!!

Upcoming Prima Classes at Made with Love

Hey scrappers, my latest upcoing Prima classes this November at Made with Love, a Coffee Break mini album and a Bloom Girl mixed media canvas layout... The mini album is a pure beginner class where the placement of elements and some fussy cutting involve... It's actually a pre-empt class for scrappers who don't really know my style well especially in areas of cutting and paper utlization...

The next interesting class is a mixed media layout class using one of the Bloom Girl stamp... You will learn how to apply colours on the Bloom Girl using various Ingvild Bolme chalk edgers, as well as creating the background using various mixed media products from Prima... It'd be something fun... But I'd have to warn you guys that it's not a pure beginner class... If you can't really colour, you may face problems and there's some fussy cutting to be done prior in attending the class in order to maximize the 3hr workshop...

Below is the promotional collage and additional pictures... Hope to see some of you at class..

Cheers!!!

A Roam Broom Halloween Layout

Today over at Clear Scraps Blog Post, I'm sharing this super cute layout using Graphic 45 retired Happy Hunting collection... Featuring my niece when she was about 2 years old, trying to be a housekeeper at home... She insisted to sweep the floor for us but she ended up getting the wrong broom and ended up getting herself stuck underneath her pants... Struggling to get herself out from the "broom", she gave this super duper cute expression that was so desperately funny... So out I came and took this epic moment of hers... Haha... Come to think about it, she was really too cute and funny...

I started off with a sheet of 12" x 12" acrylic sheet and centre down with a piece of  pattern paper... Did some minimal mixed media work here - random damask stenciling and some painting on the chipboard pieces... As I wanted this to be cute and simple, I kept this layout to the minimum... As usual in what I love to do, I gave my niece a witch hat and a tulle veil, turning her into a cute little witch for this Halloween...

Halloween is only this Friday, I hereby wish everyone a Happy Halloween!!! Have fun and happy crafting!!! Cheers!!!

Sweetest Little Thing; a Colourful 3D Layout

My sister has recently given me a stack of photos she took randomly when my niece was still a baby... She gave me the liberty to scrap all if I want... After viewing through the photos, I found this very sweet photo she took when my niece was about 6 months old with her daddy... Her cuteness in this photo was sweetness to the MAX!!! She was such an eye candy...

The initial idea was to do up a colourful layout with falling flowers from the circles border... I actually kinda screwed up the mixed media part which ended up not getting the ideal results I'm looking for... At the end of the day, I decided to rectify the problem by adding more colours... till... I got a huge rainbow cloud beneath... While I was placing the elements, suddenly the thought of balloons came to my mind 'cos my niece loves balloons of all sort... And this eventually led me to get the inspiration from Disney Pixar's animation UP! So I thought it would be interesting to do up a 3D hot-air ballon under a rainbow cloud for her instead of using flowers since the father is in the picture which will make the layout kinda weird...

The 3D hot-air balloon is about 4" wide and 6" tall and it doesn't really look nice when it's at the centre, hence I decided to just let it goes off the page... Anyway I want this 3D so I don't really want to restrict to everything within the 12x12 page... Her dad's pink t-shirt certainly blends well into the entire colour scheme of this layout and at the end of the day I'm pretty happy with the results... Totally inspired from UP!

Love Your Life, a Coffee Break Layout

This Saturday on Clear Scrap blog post, I've done up my very first Prima layout using the Coffee Break collection together with a couple of Finnabair's new mixed media range of products...

I've been cafe hopping since last year and my most hops was over 20 cafes within 2 weeks!!! So here featuring is one of the Lattes I had when I was visiting Kith Cafe last August... The clear gesso certainly works on acrylic especially when I do not want to cover the entire surface with white gesso yet creating a "teething" surface for me to work on... And this actually allows me to use normal water based sprays which is great!!! I created this coffee spillage mess on the background before I "sat" my "latte" on it... Finnabair's texture paste certainly gives this layout a more 3D look, though it took a much longer time to dry...

Here is a list of supplies used to create this layout...
Enjoy!!! And happy crafting!!!

Sew; A Pion Vintage Seamtress Layout

Today, I'm going to share a vintage layout I've created for my aunt who is previously a seamtress for over 40 years before she retired... It's truly a vintage layout, the photo I used for this layout was taken in 1959 at one of the photo studios called Smile Studio at New World Park in Singapore, one of the three amusement parks during the 1920s-80s period...

Using Pion Design's Alma's Sewing Room, I backed the Clear Scrap's XL Deco with one of the pattern papers, ripping the paper apart at one side, revealing a sewing room within which I built using some chipboards and glue it behind... I also added one of the Clear Scrap's Dress Form Embellishment beside the photo where I just stamped some designs over and added some pearls string... To further preserve this vintage look, I used mainly grey shades with a touch of beige yellow...

Graphic 45 Design Team 2014 Audition

It has been coming to 6 months I've been teaching at The Art Republic; a place where the owners and scrappers get addicted to Graphic 45... Needless to say, I'm one of them... This explains the reason why almost 90% of my classes are Graphic 45 projects... When the 2014 DT call announcement is up, I was so excited, and without a second thought I'm grabbing this opportunity!!!

For this audition, I've created a couple of new projects and the rest are my past projects and teachings at The Art Republic... Starting from the most freshly baked from oven, here I'm presenting my Graphic 45 creations...

Project #1 - By the Sea Altered Display Shadow Box

Freshly baked from the sea!!! Despite of my busy schedule for my footwear design course, I managed to bring this project out in time for this audition... I constructed this shadow box using the Ikea photo frame which I altered using colours that will goes with the paper collection; creating a worn-out look...

Those twigs are actually fallen branches from the trees surrounding my estate... So one evening on my way home, I decided to pick a few up just for this project... Love to incorporate some nautical elements, I handmade these little glass floats using glass marbles and crochet thread...

Project #2 - Botanical Tea Altered Clock

This clock was the Ikea clock that used to have a torn face at The Art Republic's studio... Instead of trashing the clock away, I decided to revive it by giving this clock a brand new vintage chocolate minty look to match the Botanical Tea paper line...

This clock is widely-loved and I'm so happy to know it has inspired a lot of people and get them wanted to altered their used clock... And... I found this clock being pinned on Graphic 45 Pinterest... Oh I'm on cloud nine...

Project #3 - A Secret Garden Pincushion and A Grower's Tag

This is one project that I used a combination of fabric (Wilmington Prints) and paper from the Secret Garden collection... And again... I found this project pinned on Graphic 45 Pinterest... I'm on double cloud nine already...

Project #4 - Sweet Sentiments Forever & Always Hanging Ornament

Inspired by Ferrero Rocher, I created these Love Rochers for this Valentine's... Yummy and sweet, I wished I could just eat them... And again!!! I found this pinned on Graphic 45 Pinterest!!! Oh my God! I'm on triple cloud nine... Can't love you guys any lesser...

Project #5 - Bohemia Bazaar Addicted to Shoes Mixed Media Layout

This is one of my favorite layout, partly because there's a story behind which makes this entire layout so different from what I've done previously... Featuring my designs, this layout is created after I've won a shoes design competition this January, landing myself a scholarship to study footwear design... Thanks to this vibrant collection, which I used greatly for my display showcase during the finals which plays a major part in winning the competition...

Project #6 - Typography Altered Cosmetics Box

Inspired by Z-palette, I upcycled  this holiday gateway cosmetic box to house my pots of blushes and eyeshadows... Small and handy enough, I love how portable this palette is which I actually brought it along with me during my last holiday trip...

Click here for more details about this project...

Project #7 - Happy Hunting Halloween Album

My very first attempted Halloween album, comes with a frame that's removable from the album cover which can be used as a wall hanging ornament or frame yourself in and take a picture...

Click here for more details about this project...

Project #8 - Bird Song Altered Rotating Flipping Mirrors

An oriental project created for the mooncake (aka mid-autumn) festival during Autumn... My very first attempted altered project...

Over here are the various Graphic 45 projects that I've designed and taught at The Art Republic... Starting from the last latest project I've taught...

Project #1 - Typography Communique Mini Librarian Matchbox Book Cover Dresser

A modified book cover matchbox dresser that houses lots of mini scroll, books and scripts owned by the messy Librarian... Inspired from an online game Typing Maniac...

Click here for more details about this project...

Project #2 - Sweet Sentiments Spring Blossom Mixed Media Album

My first mixed media full album class for this Spring season... Specially mixed the colours from various mediums to match this paper collection, this shabby chic diary is spacious enough for lots of embellishments...

Click here for more details about this project...

Project #3 - Couture Avant Garde Shoe Art

One of a kind, inspired by Alexander McQueen, there's actually an album on top of the shoe... This grand ensemble can be dismantled into various parts, revealing a glass slipper, a top hat that can be worn as a fashion accessory, a stationery holder that holds the album and 4 ATCs... 2 of the scrappers who attended this class of mine appreciate this piece so much that they had customized an acrylic showcase to display the shoe...

Click here for more details about this project...

Project #4 - Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes Handy Caddy

Something childhood and functional, this caddy is sturdy enough to house every scrappers' craft tools... Built from scratch, it comes with 3 mini handbound notebooks which can be used as a craft inventory...

Project #5 - Twelve Days of Christmas Victorian Box

A treasure box for the last Christmas; it opens up like a book cover and beneath the door houses a mini album...

Project #6 - Twelve Days of Christmas Eco-Wreath

My pilot project for The Art Republic; for the very first time I build this whimsical Christmas wreath using solely toilet rolls... This is one such recycled eco-art project that I actually conceptualized and came out a different way to create this wreath...

End Note Project - A Secret Garden Thank You Pop-Up Card

Lastly, a big Thank You to Graphic 45 for featuring my works on Pinterest and Instagram, as well as the beautiful pretty papers and creations which have inspired me so much in almost all aspects of my life, especially in my current persual in footwear design...

Click here for more details about this project...

I'd like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to The Art Republic who believes in me, my lovely scrappers peeps who love my creations, and of course my wonderful husband (also my best critic) who encouraged and supported me for this audition...  It has been a wonderful journey, especially with such excitement, I'm enjoying this creative mojo almost every day...

Thanks for viewing and I hope you've enjoyed what I've shared here... I hereby wish best of luck for those who have applied for this DT call... =)
