Learn... Me... Explore Journey... Believe... Life is About Creating Yourself...

Abstract elemental art, clean aqua teal colours... One of the shabby-grungy look I've created as a design team member for The Technique Twist challenge, using a sketch and a mood board from Once Upon a Sketch and Scrap Around the World as an inspiration...

Mood board from Scrap Around the World..

Something inspirational... Something about life... About creation... About life journey... Exploration and believing... I love the sea... The breezes... And fresh air... I wanted a layout that depicts about my life, from all the life lessons I've learned - big and small... To get a shabby grunge look, I used quite a number of Ingvild Bolme's Junkyard Findings water pipes, frames, typo bulbs and various chalk inks and mediums for this mix media project; all inspired from the various elements and colours from the mood board... So here is the final look....

I actually used a mini altered terracotta pot here...

My hand-written journaling "Embrace the greatest
Lessons given, grow and make a difference..."

I'm using part of the elements from the Periodic table,
which are the basic elements in Life...

Here is a list of supplies I've used for this project... Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day ahead...

Graphic 45 Sweet Sentiments Spring Blossom Album at The Art Republic

For my latest class at The Art Republic, finally I've created an album by request... Although it's not really my strength, for this album I've incoporate some mix-media into this project so that it won't be too boring for an album...

Using Graphic 45 Sweet Sentiments paper collection, the pages are empty enough for you to create and embellish the way you want... Happening in March, do sign up to avoid disappointment...

Immaginarium Design Team Call - 10 Chipboard Projects

I just manage to learn about Immaginarium design team call last Sunday... I was like Oh my God!! I wanna try this!! However, I don't have 10 projects to show that uses chipboards... So to give this a shot, I decided to go into this crazy scrapping marathon for 6 days to create 10 projects (but at the end of the day I came up with 8 instead) that will be my favourites... This would be one of the most memorable scrapping challenge I ever had in my life history... LOL... But I do have so much fun in creating and especially when time is constraint, I'm amazed in how much my brain works...

Sad to say, its really very limited here, and there's isn't any Immaginarium chipboards I could find here for my projects... Hence I'd have to rely on these limited chipboards I could find... The first 2 of them are old which I happened to use some chipboards in my past projects, the rest are freshly baked, a labour of lots of love from my past 6 days of scrapping marathon...

1. Graphic 45 Happy Hunting Halloween Album...
A close-up view of a chipboard frame I've used where
I misted and StazOn...
2. Graphic 45 Winder Wonder Layout...
Using flourish chipboards from my stash, I painted, stamped
and give some shimmer to add a little winter touch...
3. Ingvild Bolme Junkyard Findings mixed media 3D Layout...
I had this huge floral frame chipboard in my stash where I misted, distress
and embossed it to match the colours for the layout...
Since it's so huge, I'd have to cut them and re-position them...
4. MDF Altered Dressform...
I bought some corner flourish chipboards from the USA...
Used tons of chalk inks and used them to dress her up!!!
Using "dreams" chipboard for this altered piece...
5. Prima Lyric Altered Chipboard Frame...
I sprayed, painted and glittered a mini chandelier chipboard
to match the frame... To give some dimension, I
added some dimensional pearls on it...
6. Graphic 45 Sweet Sentiments Matchbox Dresser...
Used tons of Tattered Angels glimmer mist, glam, glaze and a blend of
chalk inks on the chipboard frame to match the paper collection...
7. Tim Holtz Idea-ology Altered Grunge Clock...
Right at the back of the clock, I image transfered
and distressed a steampunk clock gear chipboard...
8. Graphic 45 Couture Mini Top Hat...
This top hat is created using toilet paper roll and its only 2.5" tall together
with the flowers... This chipboard mask really looks big on the hat...
9. Prima Romance Noel Spool...
I created this spool using Prima's wood embellishment
together with a used plastic ribbon spool... This is one
small spool, stands at 2" tall, with the hot air ballon,
it's ~4"... I bought these tiny chipboard butterflies and
it's just nice for this spool..
10. Cupcake Pincushion, an Altered Manson Jar...
I simply used the "love" chipboard solely as a decor on this
4oz mason jar... A great gift to be given...

Thanks for viewing and pop by here... I wish all the best to everyone who apply for this... Good luck and have fun!!!

Technique Twist Challenge; Bubbles Background

It's another Saturday and for this week Technique Twist challenge, its all about bubbles... Check out the blog in how to get this done... Here is what I've done as part of the design team, using IndigoBlu bubbles background stamp for this mix media project...

I've always love Ingvild Bolme's designs and I've quite a number of her Junkyard Findings collection which I always wanted to create a more junky shabby 3D art... As I'd like to have more dimensions, I actually did this layout on a 12 X 12 canvas... I wanted to have this abstract art with a variety of mixed elements but keeping to aqua and teal clean finishes... I started by creating some cracks texture at the corners using some modeling paste, and painted over them with various mediums... Did some splashes and splattering to go with the bubbles background... Thanks to my hubby, whom had helped me to create a T-bone line to hang the frame down...

Altered those floral chipboards and used a terracotta mini pot as well...

Summer Fun... The Art of Shoes Design Competition...

I know I've been quite inactive here, as I was really busy with my shoes design competition... Moreover I was really sick for the past weeks and didn't get time to rest well...

Well, all my efforts paid off and I'm glad to announce that I'm a runner-up winner (judges' choice) for The Art of Shoes Design Competition!!! All the finalists have to decorate their display case and despite feeling sick, I created this bohemian summer fun display using Graphic 45 Bohemia Bazaar collection... The colours are so rich that it had indeed matched really well with my summer theme for the competition...

Summer Fun!!!

Favourites... Rosettes fun!!!

My display!!!

Technique Twist Challenge and Blog Hop

Time ready flies, we've reached 2014... Whatever had happened in year 2013, I believed we have reaped what we sowed; whether it's good or bad... We are all growers of our lives, if year 2013 was not a pleasant one, then grow 2014 well... I wish everyone a good 2014 year ahead...

Something to annouce and share here, I'm honoured to be part of The Technique Twist Design Team... For a good start for this year, sharing here is my very first design team project for this challenge; Blurred Vision Watercoloring... Besides, we are having a Blog Hop (details below) for this new year so do join us!! There's some prize giving...

For this challenge, I've created a mixed media tag using Graphic 45 Secret Garden collection; one of my favourite collection... As always, their paper collections always that beautiful...

I started by gesso-ing the entire plastic acetate sheet and distress paint all over using several acrylic paints (supplies list below), creating a wash out background... The edges were then distressed using Tim Holtz distress paint in scattered straw... Script text stamp is from Graphic 45 Secret Garden collection; I did a double stamp using Ingvild Bolme chalk ink as the first layer, watercolour-washed it to create a blur vision then stamped over with StazOn... And this is the final look:

Background distress painting...
I also applied the technique on a stamped embellishment...
Supplies:
  • Gesso
  • Daler-Rowney heavy body acrylic paints (cadmium yellow, yellow ochre)
  • Martha Stewart satin acrylic paint (mint)
  • Tim Holtz distress paints (victorian velvet, scattered straw)
  • Ingvild Bolme chalk ink (shabby tote, stone)
  • StazOn solvent ink (timble brown)
  • Tim Holtz distress ink (tea dye, brushed corduroy)
A Grower's tag... I added some dimensional pearls
in butterscotch to give some texture...
