Mister Frosty - A Reindeer Music Box

Just a wink of an eye, it's already Christmas' eve! OMG! I felt as if I didn't have enough of last Christmas and this Christmas has already arrived. Perhaps I've been really busy lately, juggling between my part-time job and various Christmas projects, time flies particularly fast for me. Seriously I wish for Christmas everyday!

Oh well, just in time for this Christmas, I had finally managed to alter a music box I bought from Innisfree (a Korean beauty store). Here it is, welcoming Mister Frosty...

I've been into wintry mode for this season. To make my reindeer into a frosty snow deer, I used Tim Holtz's mini snowflakes throughout the entire music box and a couple of them as the saddle. For the stirrups, I strung 2 silvery snowflake charms and placed them over the seat. This is probably the most wintry saddle I had ever created for a reindeer.

Mister Frosty certainly need a comfy scarf.

It's a functional music box and this is how it sounds like when wind. I had to remove this gadget before I could alter the whole box. And I decided to video this fun little thing. It is seriously LOUD and CLEAR! Pardon my excitement 'cos it has been a while I'm playing with such toy.

Sooo... This is how it fits onto my petite hand.

Hereby wishing everyone a Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year!

Here is a list of supplies I used for this project:

My February Tag for Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016

Yeah I know it's very last minute. I was so busy recently that I almost forgot about doing up the February tag for 12 Tags of 2016! And my blog is still snowing! In order to keep up with this (I was actually feeling too lazy to keep up with the challenge), I decided to get myself to do up the February tag even it's the last day of the month. Thankfully, it's a leap year and I have today as an additional day for the month of February.

Oh well, so for this month's remix tag here is my take - a regal heart tag for the month of love. I really wish I had managed to get hold of more Tim Holtz's supplies, unfortunately I was way too busy to even shop for them. For the very least, I managed to get this month's tag done up. Phew!

I'm keeping it simple for this month. Though it's a month of love, love is not supposed to be that complicated. And love shouldn't be just for this month and should be all year round! It's probably one of my simplest tag of all (I guess). Yet I still can't get away to do up something a little 3D.

My January Tag for Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016

Doing up tags is seriously not really one of my cores. I can take days to complete one tag, though tags are the most easiest to do. Don't get me wrong, I do love tags and I do really want to love making them whenever I could. Just that my creative brain cells are just not that tag friendly.

Sooo, I heard about Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2016 and he will introduce some really cool techniques every month and encourage the community to participate. For someone like me struggling to make tags at some point of time, participating in this kind of activity sounds good to me. Plus, with some "technical rules" to follow, this really saves me the hassle to think. Taking it as another learning curve for me, I'm taking this challenge and here is my take for the January tag...

Quite a pretty last minute project, but better than never...

Oh well, guess I've overdone it yet not exactly using the techniques outlined as there's quite a number of stuffs I don't have, yet I've tons of Tim Holtz stuffs. So I gotta improvised given the limited amount of time I had. Instead of using the foil tape, I used Tim Holtz's kraft-core gold metallic cardstock for the industrious metal technique.

Added quite a number of embellishments, and as soon as I noticed it this is my very first masculine tag!!! Can't help it, how can I miss out gears to match the industrious look? I just need to add some gears.

Despite having so many mixed media stuffs, I don't have any of Ranger's embossing powder. Hah! Tricky! And this left me with not much choice left but to work within what I have. Instead of using the chalkboard technique with stamping, I applied it with embossing instead. And it turned out pretty well! The fussy me just don't like the idea of  leaving the back of the tag as it is, as usual I'll cover and do something to complete the look.

A tag that speaks much about my vision in life. Just nice for this January 12 tag thingy by Tim Holtz, Nice start and I believe it's all about re-learning and imagine the impossible.

Botanical Tea... An Altered Clock...

On one particular day when I was teaching at The Art Republic, I noticed the clock we had in our studio has a torn face... Not very eye pleasing but still able to accept it to a certain extend... However, when I'm back for my another teaching session, almost half of the face was gone... Hmmm... This started to irritate me quite a bit... So... It finally reached a stage it really irks me, I decided to do something to the clock...

The clock in the studio that I decided to alter it...

In conjunction with the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge, I altered the clock using mint, chocolate and latte acrylic paints together with Graphic 45 Botanical Tea paper collection, creating a peppermint vintage look... Oh hmmmm... Minty-baked from oven... How yummy is this??

The revived altered clock...

Closer look at the details... Notice a lady having tea in the pool of roses?

The peppermint weather-look... Yummy!!

Hands of the clock... Hello Friend!!!

Shoes Addictions... The Dream of Becoming a Designer...

It's almost near end February... And... This coming Monday I'm heading back to school to pursue a professional Footwear Design and Product Development Diploma at Taf.tc, conducted by one of the renowned Italian Footwear Institution, Ars Sutoria... Yes it's a scholarship I had won in my shoes design competition last month which is like a dream come true...

To kick start for this wonderful journey, I decided to do a mixed media layout on my winning pieces which I designed for the competition using the sketch for this month Once Upon A Sketch challenge and Graphic 45 Bohemia Bazaar paper collection, which I had used greatly for my competition... The colours suits the summer theme so much and this is close to perfection...

As for The Technique Twist Challenge upcoming twisted challenge, I'm revealing this prematurely is incorporated here as well - faux frame...

I just love how the background turn out...

"Henceforth... I become a shoe designer..." Journaling text here

Learn... Me... Explore Journey... Believe... Life is About Creating Yourself...

Abstract elemental art, clean aqua teal colours... One of the shabby-grungy look I've created as a design team member for The Technique Twist challenge, using a sketch and a mood board from Once Upon a Sketch and Scrap Around the World as an inspiration...

Mood board from Scrap Around the World..

Something inspirational... Something about life... About creation... About life journey... Exploration and believing... I love the sea... The breezes... And fresh air... I wanted a layout that depicts about my life, from all the life lessons I've learned - big and small... To get a shabby grunge look, I used quite a number of Ingvild Bolme's Junkyard Findings water pipes, frames, typo bulbs and various chalk inks and mediums for this mix media project; all inspired from the various elements and colours from the mood board... So here is the final look....

I actually used a mini altered terracotta pot here...

My hand-written journaling "Embrace the greatest
Lessons given, grow and make a difference..."

I'm using part of the elements from the Periodic table,
which are the basic elements in Life...

Here is a list of supplies I've used for this project... Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day ahead...

Technique Twist Challenge; Bubbles Background

It's another Saturday and for this week Technique Twist challenge, its all about bubbles. Check out the blog in how to get this done. Here is what I've done as part of the design team, using IndigoBlu bubbles background stamp for this mix media project.

I've always love Ingvild Bolme's designs and I've quite a number of her Junkyard Findings collection which I always wanted to create a more junky shabby 3D art. As I'd like to have more dimensions, I actually did this layout on a 12 X 12 canvas. I wanted to have this abstract art with a variety of mixed elements but keeping to aqua and teal clean finishes. I started by creating some cracks texture at the corners using some modelling paste, and painted over them with various mediums. Did some splashes and splattering to go with the bubbles background... Thanks to my hubby, whom had helped me to create a T-bone line to hang the frame down.

Altered those floral chipboards and used a terracotta mini pot as well...
