Floral Shoppe Ephemera Cards

We all have some sort of papercrafting dilemma. And I tend to get that a lot especially I want the best of both worlds with minimal damage, as much as possible. This probably speaks a lot about my way of crafting.

Oh well, long time no see everyone! I'm glad that I'm able to find time to blog this entry - a post that's perhaps way behind my post with Graphic 45 last week. That's one thing I love being in Graphic 45, a lot of work was pre-planned in advance in a way that I don't have to rush in and try to get things done at the nick of time. However, do pardon and be patient with me for the next few weeks while I'm trying to get my timing right. I've been really bad in handling my time for the past weeks due to sudden hiccups in life which I'm still struggling at.

So moving on, making use of the time I have without sharing much about my hiccuping life, I shall go straight to the point on what I've done for Graphic 45 for this July. I'm re-sharing one of my old videos which I've done in 2016 - fussy cutting. It's a cutting technique that I've acquired while I was doing my footwear design course where we were taught to cut footwear patterns out from cardboard using utility/craft knife. I find this method rather ergonomically friendly and easier to control, hence decided to attempt this on designed papers where the intricacies are way complex compared to footwear patterns in general. And it kinda works, giving me more defined cuts than scissors can ever provide. In my video above, I explain very briefly how to hold and use the utility/craft knife to fussy cut as well as some useful tips in getting the right blades. More papercrafting tips over at Graphic 45 blog which you can hop over to read further.

To show how this technique can come into good use, I created two very simple ephemera cards using Graphic 45 Floral Shoppe collection. Such a beauty of this collection! And who doesn't loves flowers? I do of course! Sometimes you just need to break the various design elements and reassemble them to create your very own design. And that's what I did!

Summing all up that's what I got to share today (though it's a week late), and I do hope the video would be able to address some of the questions you probably have in mind. If you've any questions, do always feel free to drop a comment or even send me a message. I'll gladly respond and assist whenever I can. So, below here is a list of supplies in where to get these lovely collection and I shall see you guys very soon again! Happy papercrafting!!!

Heartfelt Farewell Gifts to my Customers

It wasn't easy to say goodbye especially to people whom you've been seeing them regularly for the past 2 years. Today is my very last day in a cafe where I worked for, a place where I relearned a lot things and found new friends there. Most of them are my regular customers whom I've been serving them since day one I started work there.

There's so much memories created there and certainly these lovely customers indeed have made my workplace a better place to work in. To show my appreciation and gratitude towards them, I decided to do up something for them. At the same time, I'm submitting these projects for Heartfelt Creations Design Team Call. While I'm not expecting that much that I'll be able to make it to the semi-final round, I'm hoping I'm able to create some inspirations via this means.

It's also my very first time using Heartfelt Creations products (of which most of them are generously loaned to me by one of my crafty friends, Pauline who owns loads of Heartfelt products) and realized how heartfelt these products are. They synced in so well in what I want to express, in particularly for the Coffee Talk collection as making coffee has always been part of bonding process with my customers. It's also through coffee I learned about the science and art of making a good cup of coffee. All thanks to Weranga, one of my customers who encouraged me to take up some courses to hoard my skills. To bid them goodbye certainly will bring tears to my heart. I'll surely miss them dearly. 😢

I wrapped some teabags with some brown paper and secured them with some jute twine. These tea pouches came with tags that I die-cut them out using the Luggage and Tag dies (HCD1-745) and stamped with "a gift for you" using the Balloon and Bicycle stamp set (HCPC-3599). I made the sleeve with walnut cream cardstock using the Eyelet Oval die (HCD1-776). Because these are not coffee, I only added on some cup and spoon embellishments using the Coffee Talk stamp and die set (HCPC-3709 & HCD1-782).

What's coming next is the main focus of the farewell gift - coffee. Coffee is where all friendships are made. Neither would I be able to make coffee for my customers anymore, nor would I know when will our paths cross again, what I can do is to gift them some coffee beans; beans that I used to make their daily coffee. Well, instead of placing those beans in a bottle, I placed them into these mini suitcases and decided to pack them with some interesting idea that will "perk" my customers up a little.

Without me further explaining, as pictures do speak a thousand words. Introducing Heavenly Scent; stress coping coffee beans!! What I stated within this little "product insert" are true accordingly to scientific studies, but what comes after are some puns and kind warnings! Oh well, these are meant to be some sort of novelty gimmick to entertain my customers a little.

The gimmicky product insert...

These are matchbox size suitcases which I die cut them out from Tim Holtz' matchbox Bigz die (which unfortunately has been retired) using kraft cardstock. Prior to assembly, I stamped the surfaces with coffee beans using The Perfect Blend stamp set (HCPC-3712) and coloured the beans using watercolour pencils. At the back of the drawer, I stamped some Latte Art (HCPC-3711). To provide some "packaging" to these Heavenly Scent beans, I made these mini paper bags as well using The Perfect Blend stamps.

I penned down my heartfelt messages for my customers on ATC cards and everything I made went into a bigger paper bag, which ended off with a huge message "Thank you for making my world a better place" using My World stamp (HCPC-3663) right at the front.

Alas, as I gifted them away to my customers, I hope I've more time to talk to them prior to my leaving. However, this wasn't possible as I couldn't manage to catch some of them in time and have to go. I left my crafting identity within and hope they are able to find me online. Well, should our paths cross again, we will meet again in time to come.

Create, Love and Dream ATCs

Been a little late for updates for this month as I was quite busy lately with several activities for the past weekends. Trying to strike a balance and has been making an effort to plan my time well. There are a lot of things happening around me and I'm very glad to share they are good things. It'd also mean I'll busier for a very different set of reasons, as well as transiting into a new phase in life. More challenges ahead I should say and I may face some adaptation stress which might not be a bad thing. Rather, it'd mean I need to be more disciplined and have to constantly keep my emotions under control. Nonetheless, it's still something positive to look forward to and I'm super excited about it! 😂

Moving on, sharing here my latest project today in relation to my recent YouTube channel trailer. Decided to do up these ATCs to portray the message I've been wanting to bring across and what it really means by "Creating the Dream". It has been an amazing creative journey so far. And I've witnessed the creative progress in me during these past 4-5 years, which has moulded me into a better thinker and person; an experience that I never acquired during my past working life.

Create, Love and Dream are terms that I always want to use them as frequent as I could to remind myself why I'm into this journey. Regardless of what kind of art or creatives you are in, the desire to love the work you do and continue loving it makes the dream possible. Hence, creating is more than just a journey itself. Loving it makes the journey more complete and fulfilling. It's also my greatest pleasure to invite everyone to join me on this journey together, not solely to share my works but also to encourage and inspire as much as I could. Likewise, I'd also love to be encouraged and inspired as well and that's the whole purpose of wanting to do this.

I had bought this Tim Holtz ATC mover and shapers die many years ago thinking it might be useful in the future. Very unfortunately, this die has already been retired and is hardly available online. It took me this long to finally get to use this for this project. Well, it's always better to use them now than never. A great amount of supplies I used are actually within my existing stash that I've kept for very long especially those ornate frames chippies, mulberry leaves etc. I'm aiming to have a nature feel hence I added quite a number of "leaves", "straws", "stones" and "foliage" to make it as if you are entering into a tropical rain forest. I hope I've gotten the feel correctly. Notice there's also some dew on the leaves as well?

As much as I could, whenever time permits, I'll try my best to do up a tutorial. And here is my first tutorial for this month of February. I hope this will provide some interesting ideas and inspirations. An extensive list of supplies I used for this project can be found at the bottom of this entry.

Artisan Style ATC Card Tags

In as far as I'm concern, seriously I do not know what the hell am I making at times... When I received my previous Graphic 45 DT pack and saw the Artisan Style collection, there're so many ideas spinning around my head that I loose hold my grip in catching them... This is where it seriously frustrates me 'cos I know there's something at the back of my mind but I couldn't pull it out... And soon I develop this "temporary creative incapacitated syndrome" which hinders me to put my ideas into practice... Seriously hate this moment of dis-coordination between my mind and hands... When this really happens and I tried to create, I'll usually ended up in a series of creative chaos and madness...

Sometimes, I wish I could just cling wrap them to "preserve" these ideas and store them in my fridge...

It all started with an intention to create some ATCs out of the Artisan 8" x 8" paper pad... As I tried working on it, I realized Hey these are not in the correct sizes!! Then I decided I should probably make them into cards instead... As the more I tried to add stuffs onto it, I noticed they are way too small as cards... I was like "What the Heck?! This is neither here nor there!" This was where it seriously got me irritated and decided to hunt some more stuffs out in hope I can turn them into proper cards... I grabbed some wine cork, split one into half and glue them onto the bottom... And I found that something is missing somewhere and added on some satin ribbons, lace, brass chain, flowers and buttons...

After adding on so much stuffs and when I’m all done, I’ve totally no idea what I had created - it’s not ATC, not even cards, and not really tags… But whatever it is, these are the final outputs from my creative madness and randomness. I decided to just call them ATC card tags… Still don’t think it sounds right, I’m just being random… Feel kind of a cliché? Yes I know… Imagine Style or Style Imagine? But whatever… Oops!

Graphic 45 Gilded Lily Sneak Peeks and DT Tag Exchange 2015

What's coming up next is this absolutely gorgeous Marie Antoinette inspired, Baroque vintage style collection by Graphic 45... I absolutely adore this Gilded Lily collection!!! And what's so amazing about this collection is that my suggestion of seeing a Victorian/Baroque paperline come true... I've never seen a company that truly value every of their DT members so much and take in their suggestions so seriously besides gifting us generous pack of their products and other goodies... Being part of their DT is just simply jaw dropping and utterly speechless...

Even before the new 2015/16 DT announcement (which is this coming Thursday), I already have tons of project ideas at the back of my mind... I shamelessly admit I hope to see myself in the list again so that I can greedily get another year of goodies... This is just mind blowing and I can't wait to work with this collection...

Hop over to their blog here and here for more sneaky peeks...

Very soon my very first year with Graphic 45 will end this May and surely I'll miss my fellow DT members... Because the team will be disbanded soon, somewhere this January, one of our fellow teammies Nichola Battilana suggested a tag exchange and a few of us decided to do this for a little keepsake before our team disbands this end May... As sad as it is, I wish we can never part...

Here are the several ATC tags I've made for them... Still obsess with crates, I'm bringing them onto these tags and I hope they will happy when they receive their crushed packages... They'll need to uncrush to see their tags...

Avant Garde Shoe Art at The Art Republic

It has been busy weeks for me... My shoes prototypes are finally out and I was busy reviewing them and to make some adjustment before my grand finals for The Art of Shoes Design Competition which is happening on 8th January 2014... My designs can be found here and is open for public voting till 6th January 2014...

Finally after weeks, to commemorate the competition I'm currently in, my new project with The Art Republic is this shoe art using Graphic 45 Couture paper collection... Absolutely love this collection... Inspired by Alexander McQueen, I came up with this detachable concept where the album, toe-box and a mini-top hat can be removed as individual pieces... The top-hat itself can be worn as a fashion accessory... Reveal underneather the toe-box shows a glass slipper within... When put together, it is a grand master-piece of shoe art ready to be displayed... Besides, there'd be 4 ATCs which can be traded during class...

The Grand Ensemble...

Remove the toe-box to reveal the glass slipper...

The stand comes as a separate entity to hold the album...

4 ATCs that can be traded in class or in any interest groups...
