Technique Twist Challenge; Bubbles Background

It's another Saturday and for this week Technique Twist challenge, its all about bubbles. Check out the blog in how to get this done. Here is what I've done as part of the design team, using IndigoBlu bubbles background stamp for this mix media project.

I've always love Ingvild Bolme's designs and I've quite a number of her Junkyard Findings collection which I always wanted to create a more junky shabby 3D art. As I'd like to have more dimensions, I actually did this layout on a 12 X 12 canvas. I wanted to have this abstract art with a variety of mixed elements but keeping to aqua and teal clean finishes. I started by creating some cracks texture at the corners using some modelling paste, and painted over them with various mediums. Did some splashes and splattering to go with the bubbles background... Thanks to my hubby, whom had helped me to create a T-bone line to hang the frame down.

Altered those floral chipboards and used a terracotta mini pot as well...

Summer Fun... The Art of Shoes Design Competition...

I know I've been quite inactive here, as I was really busy with my shoes design competition... Moreover I was really sick for the past weeks and didn't get time to rest well...

Well, all my efforts paid off and I'm glad to announce that I'm a runner-up winner (judges' choice) for The Art of Shoes Design Competition!!! All the finalists have to decorate their display case and despite feeling sick, I created this bohemian summer fun display using Graphic 45 Bohemia Bazaar collection... The colours are so rich that it had indeed matched really well with my summer theme for the competition...

Summer Fun!!!

Favourites... Rosettes fun!!!

Technique Twist Challenge and Blog Hop

Time ready flies, we've reached 2014. Whatever had happened in year 2013, I believed we have reaped what we sowed; whether it's good or bad. We are all growers of our lives, if year 2013 was not a pleasant one, then grow 2014 well. I wish everyone a good 2014 year ahead.

Something to announce and share here, I'm honoured to be part of The Technique Twist Design Team. For a good start for this year, sharing here is my very first design team project for this challenge; Blurred Vision Watercoloring. Besides, we are having a Blog Hop (details below) for this new year so do join us!! There's some prize giving.

For this challenge, I've created a mixed media tag using Graphic 45 Secret Garden collection; one of my favourite collection. As always, their paper collections always that beautiful.

I started by gesso-ing the entire plastic acetate sheet and distress paint all over using several acrylic paints (supplies list below), creating a wash out background. The edges were then distressed using Tim Holtz distress paint in scattered straw. Script text stamp is from Graphic 45 Secret Garden collection; I did a double stamp using Ingvild Bolme chalk ink as the first layer, watercolour-washed it to create a blur vision then stamped over with StazOn. And this is the final look:

Background distress painting...

I also applied the technique on a stamped embellishment...
Supplies:
  • Gesso
  • Daler-Rowney heavy body acrylic paints (cadmium yellow, yellow ochre)
  • Martha Stewart satin acrylic paint (mint)
  • Tim Holtz distress paints (victorian velvet, scattered straw)
  • Ingvild Bolme chalk ink (shabby tote, stone)
  • StazOn solvent ink (timble brown)
  • Tim Holtz distress ink (tea dye, brushed corduroy)
A Grower's tag... I added some dimensional pearls
in butterscotch to give some texture...

Avant Garde Shoe Art at The Art Republic

It has been busy weeks for me... My shoes prototypes are finally out and I was busy reviewing them and to make some adjustment before my grand finals for The Art of Shoes Design Competition which is happening on 8th January 2014... My designs can be found here and is open for public voting till 6th January 2014...

Finally after weeks, to commemorate the competition I'm currently in, my new project with The Art Republic is this shoe art using Graphic 45 Couture paper collection... Absolutely love this collection... Inspired by Alexander McQueen, I came up with this detachable concept where the album, toe-box and a mini-top hat can be removed as individual pieces... The top-hat itself can be worn as a fashion accessory... Reveal underneather the toe-box shows a glass slipper within... When put together, it is a grand master-piece of shoe art ready to be displayed... Besides, there'd be 4 ATCs which can be traded during class...

The Grand Ensemble...

Remove the toe-box to reveal the glass slipper...

The stand comes as a separate entity to hold the album...

4 ATCs that can be traded in class or in any interest groups...
